The mother bear's care and training, the early adventures of the twins in learning to swim and hunt, and their experiences with foxes, lemmings, ptarmigan, snowy owls, seals, and other bears provide many lessons in natural history for younger readers.
The author is the wife of Burt McConnell, who was a member of Stefanson's third Arctic (North Pole) expedition. She has based her story of the polar bear twins on information gathered from both Artic Explorers and Eskimos, and this book reflects her accurate knowledge of this region. The Illustrations Are Marvelous!
