Famous Horse Story that is sure to please any horse lover!
This is the story of the brave little Vermont work horse from whom came the famous American breed of Morgan horses.
"Little Bub," later called "Justin Morgan," is a pint-sized cob first owned by Justin Morgan but really loved and watched over by young Joel Goss. Nobody knew whether the parents of this little horse were British, French, or Dutch. But as Joel said, "Come to think of it, he's like us. He's American. That's what he is. American!"
And so he was. Joel follows him through his young life, during which he grows up to run faster, trot faster, and pull heavier logs than any horse in Vermont, and he finally rescues him from a cruel master. In the end Joel has the pride and pleasure of having Little Bub ridden by James Monroe, the President of the United States!
