Victor Tixier's travels were made in Missouri and Louisiana in 1839-1840. A fine account of Osage life on the plains in 1840.
Tixier traveled from France to New Orleans and thence up the Mississippi. This is a journal of high adventure. The narrative of a young Frenchman of good family who traveled up the Mississippi River in 1840 and experienced every boy's dream when he joined the Osage for their summer buffalo hunt.
